President Obama
The news that Iran released five
Americans who had imprisoned for years broke the uncertainty that existed about
the future of relations between the United States and the Islamic State.
The release was a surprise
because it was through a swap of seven Iranians who were in prison in the
United States and coupled with the day in which the United Nations lifted trade
sanctions imposed to Iran, due to the compliance of agreements with respect to
its nuclear program.
Apparently, the exchange of prisoners
is one of the cards that President Obama had hidden up his sleeve. And that
makes us think or be sure, that Barack Obama will be a President who will go
down in history as a President who made deals with the enemy: Cuba and Iran.
Two countries that for decades have had ideologically irreconcilable and differences.
First reopen its diplomatic relations with Cuba and also has plans to close the
Guantanamo base at the Caribbean island. With Iran, made an agreement about the future of
the Iranian nuclear energy and at the same time the release of impounded monies,
translated into millions or billions of dollars that will definitely benefit
the Persian country allowing to re-enter the crammed oil market.
Let us hope that these
dealings with enemy countries are not a double-edge sword against the United
States. The positive side of all this as President Obama said at his last ‘State
of the Union’ address that the 'cold war' is over and the moment in history has
come for lifting the embargo against Cuba. The President said that ‘Fifty years of isolating Cuba
had failed to promote democracy, setting us back in Latin America.’
With regards to Iran, the President said a global coalition was built
with sanctions and principled diplomacy in order “to prevent
a nuclear-armed Iran.” He mentioned at his address before Congress. “Iran has
rolled back its nuclear program, shipped out its uranium stockpile, and the
world has avoided another war.”
It remains to be seen if
this dealing with Iran does not lead us to a third world war between Islam
enemy and capitalistic regimes in the name of Allah and Islamic terrorism .
