People who do not know their history are condemned to repeat it

By Armando García

The military coup in Bolivia, is a warning of what it was used to be in the 20th century in the Americas  when repressing social uprisings in the Americas.
The capitalist oligarchs in Latin America, have as their ally the American president Donald J. Trump, who at this time has the final say to overthrow the leaders who do not align to the imperialist positions that are supported by organizations such as the OAS, who again repeats its history of being silent with the coups in Bolivia, as it did with Cuba in the 20th century.
Already in the 21st century, there are new generations in the world who never experienced the horror of military dictatorships. But there are still many who witnessed the atrocities and genocides that the so-called militia carried out on the continent.
One thing that is evident, is the passivity of many, of not reacting to the problems that Latin America is experiencing. There is a volatile situation, the continent is on fire. Not seeing this reality, and not taking immediate action to avoid civil wars, uprisings, coups, reminds us of the words of the Argentine Nicolás Avellaneda in the 19th century, saying that the people who do not know their history are condemned to repeat it.
Most of Latin America has experienced similar situations to those in Bolivia. The now ex-president of Bolivia Álvaro García Linera, said the following:
"They touch difficult times, but for a revolutionary the difficult times is his air. That is what we live, of the difficult times, of that we feed, of the difficult times. Are we not coming from below, are we not the persecuted, the tortured?  The marginalized, of the neoliberal times? The golden decade of the continent has not been free. It has been your struggle, from below, from the unions, from the university, from the neighborhoods, that has given rise to the revolutionary cycle. This first wave has not fallen from the sky We bring in the body the traces and wounds of struggles of the 80s and 90s. And if today provisionally, temporarily, we must return to those struggles of the 80s, of the 90s, of 2000, welcome. That's what a revolutionary is for. Fight, win, fall, get up, fight, beat, fall, get up. Until life is over, that's our destiny."
The coming to power of Evo Morales in 2006 was a historical fact. For the first time Bolivia had an indigenous president, like 60% of its population.
According to all economic and social indicators, Morales' management was a success. Sustained in the early nationalization of hydrocarbons, the Gross Domestic Product grew relentlessly at an average of 4.9% per year for 13 years, poverty was reduced from 60 to 35%, income distribution improved, and illiteracy fell. Its management was not only celebrated by the leftist and progressive forces of the continent but was praised more than once by the World Bank and even the International Monetary Fund.
Now Bolivia, without Morales in power and with a puppet person of the empire as president, the United States and the world oligarchs are behind Bolivia's Lithium reserve, like oil in other countries. This ensures the control of the world from Latin America. With the coup d’état the capitalists played a political chess, giving a check mate against a government legitimately chosen by the Bolivian people.
The objectives of Donald Trump are now obviously Venezuela and Nicaragua to impose puppet governments, obedient to the designs of imperialism to ensure world domination. Here is his statement to that effect:
"These events send a strong signal to the illegitimate regimes of Venezuela and Nicaragua, that democracy and the will of the people will always prevail."
Perhaps Evo Morales was naive to think that he had ended with oppression, with discrimination, with humiliation in his country, but the reality was the emergence of groups that do not respect the indigenous population, mostly in Bolivia.
Like the Spanish conquerors, who arrived with the Bible in one hand and in the other a musket to impose their ideology, religion and language; in Bolivia history repeated itself, when the self-proclaimed president of Bolivia takes power with a Bible in her hand and is protected by the rifles of the Bolivian army.
In Bolivia and other Latin American countries, people of mix race, European, Caucasian, some mestizos, mischievous, racist, infamous people are now allying of the Trump empire, to control the world.
It is very worth remembering the words of the German playwright Bertolt Brecht: "... what is the use of telling the truth about fascism that is condemned if nothing is said against the capitalism that originates it?"
This capitalism and its maximum imperialism, with the political blow given in Bolivia, will go down in history as the usurpers of the American continent.
