The decision of the
Mexican government to grant asylum to the Bolivian ex-president Evo Morales
opens, without a doubt, a pandora box in for those allied to US imperialism.
As it was already planned,
there is an ongoing intensive attack by the right wing against President Andrés
Manuel López Obrador (AMLO). Especially now that he is on the eyes of the world
for giving refuge to Evo Morales. Some of AMLO’s adversaries are encouraging elements of the army to overthrow
him, accusing the President of a communist and dictator.
Such action circulates
widely in social networks, as are the voices of the opposing parties that ruled
the country and of which there are only bitter memories of dispossession, prey,
violence, corruption, genocides, missing persons, murders; etc.
AMLO in his morning press
conference said that his adversaries, the neo-liberals and conservatives, are
classists, discriminators, racists with double standards, who have not gone,
they are still there and not understand that his administration is no longer
the same as in the past, but a regime change that is transforming the country.
And it is normal that opposition exists since his enemies have not died, and
they do not accept that Mexico is living different times. AMLO said that controversy
is good, implying that it is a synonymous of freedom.
The right wing opposite
to AMLO is taking advantage of the coup d’état in Bolivia and the welcoming of
Evo Morales, as a way to launch the hook to Mexico’s society and to the world
an accusing AMLO of dictator for the reforms that are taking place for the good
of the country, obviously nothing good for the Mexican conservative oligarchy.
The situation in
Mexico, as well as in of rest Latin
America, the right wing is cut by the same fabric. In each country, their
interests are worth more than the interests of the working class, of the
indigenous, the poor, the marginalized population. And now, with the support of
President Trump, in countries, that they’re called socialists, communists,
populists, dictatorships, totalitarians, the oligarchy are fighting the leaders with social agendas that
benefit the most marginalized population.
In the case of
Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, the right is regaining power. What
happened in Bolivia is a warning to AMLO, to the Mexican people who chose him
and who supports him unconditionally. The conservative oligarchs will not stop
attacking the Mexican president, unless the people do something stop them.
AMLO said that his
opponents have the change through an election in 2022, to vote for the
revocation of the mandate; that is to say, to ask the president to resign or to
continue until his six-year term ends in 2024.
The people will have
the opportunity to choose in the middle of the six-year term a person who
represents those who buried Mexico in disgrace that do not let the country
transform, or allow a president to sow the hope of change and a total
transformation of the public and political life of the country.
