Estuve pensando bastante sobre cómo empezar a escribir sobre los
acontecimientos del 6 de enero pasado en El Capitolio en la capital de los
Estados Unidos.
Siempre he cubierto periodísticamente todo evento
noticioso de tendencia racista, como los grupos de vigilantes en la frontera
entre México y Estados Unidos, cuando actúan como policías ciudadanos literalmente
cazando a los inmigrantes que ingresan al país.
Al igual, he escrito sobre las políticas racistas
y discriminatorias contra las minorías en la nación. Medidas promovidas por
gobernadores, legisladores; entre otros y, hasta presidentes, como Donald
Trump.
Los acontecimientos violentos en El Capitolio de
los Estados Unidos demostraron una sublevación de la población blanca, frustrada
de que el presidente Trump, no continuaría en el poder. Los sublevados,
netamente racistas y supremacistas, provienen de la base primordial del
electorado del presidente Trump.
Durante su caminar hacia El Capitolio, haciéndole
caso al presidente de que lo hicieran, no lanzaban consignas por mejores
empleos, tampoco por un plan médico, por una vivienda barata, por mejores
salarios, por acceso a la vacuna contra el Covid-19, sino exigían que Trump
fuera reelegido.
Los sublevados no tuvieron ninguna obstrucción
por parte de las autoridades policiacas para llegar hasta El Capitolio, uno de
los edificios sagrados del poder político legislativo de este país. Ante las
agresiones tanto físicas, como verbales, la policía del capitolio fue
fácilmente superada en cantidad y no pudieron impedir completamente el acceso
de los sublevados al recinto federal.
Ya dentro, las imágenes captadas por diferentes
medios incluyendo las cámaras de El Capitolio, mostraron como los pocos elementos
encargados de la seguridad del recinto se agarraron a golpes con los
sublevados. Mostraron escenas solamente
comparables a las ocurridas en países del Tercer Mundo.
De haber sido los manifestantes un grupo de
afroamericanos o de inmigrantes o de hispanos levantando la voz contra el
presidente Donald Trump, o por abogar por una reforma migratoria justa, la
fuerza policiaca hubiera sido notable y, de haber habido alguna provocación, la
cantidad de arrestos hubiera sido muy grande, y estaríamos lamentando por los lesionados
y quizá hasta la pérdida de vidas.
Los manifestantes tuvieron prácticamente campo abierto
para llegar al palacio legislativo y, lo que hicieron fue vandalizarlo, mofándose
de los símbolos patrios, hasta el colmo de reemplazar la bandera del país colocando
en las astas oficiales, emblemas con el rostro del presidente. Eso es una traición.
Prácticamente Donald Trump estuvo a un paso de dar un golpe de estado para
mantenerse en el poder.
Donald Trump termina su mandado al medio día del
día 20 de enero próximo, al menos que por haber instigado la violencia, que
puso en peligro la integridad y la reputación de la imagen democrática de la
nación, el vicepresidente Mike Pence cambie de opinión y solicite al gabinete
la destitución del presidente o, el Congreso lo haga antes de esa fecha.
Si Trump no es destituido antes del 20 de enero, de
seguro empezará inmediatamente a preparar su campaña proselitista para
postularse en el 2024 con el fin de recuperar la Casa Blanca; respaldado por un
electorado con mucha mayor fuerza. Por lo tanto, todos los ciudadanos, con
conciencia social, debemos estar listos y organizarnos para que eso no suceda.

The uprising of white Americans

I have been thinking
a lot about how to start writing about the events of January 6 at the US
Capitol. I have always covered all news events related to discrimination and
bigotry perpetrated by people such vigilante groups on the border between
Mexico and the United States, when they have acted as citizen patrol, literally
hunting down immigrants who enter the country in an undocumented manner. I also,
I have written articles about racist and discriminatory policies against
minorities in the nation. Measures promoted by governors, legislators, among
others and, even presidents, like Donald Trump.
The violent events that took place in our Nation’s Capital clearly
demonstrated an uprising of the white people, most of them loyal to President
Donald Trump. They came to Washington, instigated by the president and because
they were and continue to be frustrated that President Trump would not continue
in power.
The mutineers, who clearly are racist and supremacist people,
they all come from Trump’s electorate. Prior storming the Capitol building,
Trump told them to and during their walk, they did not launch slogans for
better jobs, not for a universal medical plan, for affordable housing, for
better wages, for full and free Covid-19 vaccination. They went to US Capitol
to demand, that Trump be re-elected.
They did not have any obstruction from the police
authorities to get to The Capitol, one of the sacred buildings of the
legislative political power of this country. Once they got there, they were
encountered by the Capitol Police who were easily outnumbered and were unable
to completely prevent the protesters from entering the federal compound. Once
inside, the images captured by different media outlets, social media, and the Capitol
cameras, showed how security personnel were beaten by the perpetrators. We
witnessed images only comparable to those incidents that occurred in Third
World countries.
Had the protesters been a group of African Americans or
immigrants or Hispanics raising their voices against President Donald Trump or
advocating for a comprehensive immigration reform? the police force presence would
have been remarkable higher and, had there been any provocation, the number of
arrests would have been exceptionally large, and we would be having injured people
and even morning the loss of life.
The protesters had practically a right of way to reach The
Capitol and, and once there, what they did was to vandalize it, mocking the
national symbols, to the extent of replacing the country's flag by banners with
the Trump's face on the official flagpoles. That is betrayal. Donald Trump was
practically one step away from staging a coup to stay in power.
Donald Trump ends his term at noon on January 20 next,
unless Vice President Mike Pence considers invoking 25th Amendment to remove
Trump for having instigated violence, which endangered the integrity and
reputation of the nation's democratic image or, the Congress does it before
that date.
If Trump is not removed before January 20, he will surely
immediately begin preparing his campaign to run in 2024 to win back the White
House; supported by a much stronger electorate. Therefore, all citizens, with
social conscience, must be ready and organize so that this does not happen at
all.
